This is my second tile from Eni’s Fragmented Windows lesson. I really wanted to try this in blue because it reminded me so much of floor plans. I also made the grid a bit smaller than the first one. I’m not sure if I like it better, or not. I did have to use a finer tipped pen to draw the fragments because the squares were so tiny!

I chose a fairly simple tangle, Chard, for this tile so that I could do some experimentation. I’m at the point, working with black tiles, where I want to start adding a little bit of color. It’s kind of tricky because I want the color to show up, and not be muted. So for this tile, I’ve added a bit of white, first, and then put the color over it.

Choices. She realized, as her ship emerged from the gate that the choice was going to be almost impossible. Hard enough in a single universe, she now had a universe of universes to choose from! This is the first time that I’ve used Derwent Graphtint pencils on a Zentangle. I like they way they add greyed tones without overwhelming the design. Unfortunately, the silver of the ship’s structure doesn’t show up well in the image, but it’s really spectacular in person!

Dance floor. Dressed up in his tux, with and fancy bow tie, he swept her gracefully across the dance floor as if in a dream. Schway in Schway. In this tangle, the string is Schway and the tangle is also used as a pattern in the tile. My goal here was to create a tile in which the tangles were basically symmetrical. Zentangle drawn on Strathmore Bristol Vellum using a black Micron pen. Tangles: Schway Eye-Wa Chard Cootie

Busy. This tile is from a time when I used complicated strings and lots of tangles. But I think there are some interesting things here, that I‘ve further developed. For example, allowing one tangle to flow behind another. I also followed the string from the Cubine into the Striping. Now days, those concepts are used often when Zentangling, and are specifically taught in classes, tutorials and books! Zentangle drawn on Official Zentangle tile using a black, Micron pen.

Avocado. I don‘t remember what I was thinking when I tangled this tile. I know that what is on here is a result of randomly selecting tangles, so I‘m going to call the upper center Lava Juice, and I‘m guessing it started with that, and then just did it‘s own thing. Paths. In this tile, Twing kind of makes a path for you to follow in and out of the designs. Island influence. I saw the movie Moana recently. I think it is one of my favorite Disney Princess movies of all time.
