I am home!
I know that sounds a bit odd, but if you had my life since the beginning of the Covid pandemic, you would understand. The last original tile I posted was May 26, 2020. Certainly a long time ago!
Since then, I’ve moved 4 times. My stuff has been in and out of storage in three different cities, and I now have a teenager and a pet!
All of this has kept me very busy. It has been very stressful. And it was not fun (except for the kid and the cat!)
I am finally in a permanent home and I hope to NEVER move again. I am unpacking things that I haven’t seen in years. I have been busy arranging my studio and my office. I have a room for the library again! And I am back to finding my center and creating art!
Because it has been so long, I went back to the very beginning.

This is my old, very old, Zentangle kit. I’ve had it since 2006! It is one of the original kits, made by hand in nepal and covered with lokta paper. The tiles have been restocked many times, the die has wandered off, and the micron pen is definitly not the original!
However, all the original instructions and the Legend card are still here. It’s all a little scruffy and worn, but so am I, so that’s fine with me.
I pulled it out yesterday, read the beginning of the booklet and followed the original instructions for “Your First Tile.” It is the tile at the top of this post.
I really enjoyed getting back to the meditative, rhythmic movements of drawing a single stroke at a time. I was so interesting to just watch each section of my string fill with the tangles.
Tangling has always brought me such peace and pleasure… I am so happy to be returning to it!
