Hydroponics. It had been months since she had taken the ship out on a mission. But it was time. Everything in the ydroponics bay was ready. And she knew the eggs would hatch right after her arrival. Morning. The sun shone through the open window, casting small shadows from the Creeper vines. The decorative designs on the windowsill captured her attention. They reminded her of the suns of home. You may notice that there is a new addition to the sidebar on the right. In the “Explore” section, a random Zentangle will appear. You can click on it and go to the post about it. The choice of Zentangle is totally random and changes every time a page is loaded.
Wrapped up. This Zentangle is the result of two different Facebook posts. In one group, someone asked about shading a Zentangle that was drawn in blue ink. That got me to thinking about how I would handle the situation. So, for this tile, I’ve used blue ink. For the shading I used both colored pencil and graphite. I think the combination of the two allows for more dramatic depth than using the blue pencil alone.
Elemental. This is the first Zendala I have ever drawn. A Zendala is a mandala created using tangles. I have never done one before because I was so worried about it being perfect. However, after watching Eni’s Radial Zendala video , I understand that it was OK to create something that was “perfectly imperfect”. I was still very nervous about tackling this, but I had a concept in mind of creating a Zendala that would represent the basic elements: Air, Earth, Fire and Water.
Angled. This tile is all about the angles. The string is made up of straight lines set at various angles. The tangles also provide tension due to the placement against the string and each other. The occasional curves help to balance out the rigidity of the lines by providing some softness. Zentangle drawn on Strathmore Vellum Bristol using a black, Micron pen. Which way? Here, after drawing the string, I‘ve used ribbon tangles to define spaces that are filled with other tangles. For me, this is a simple way of creating a Zentangle from randomly chosen designs. Zentangle drawn on Strathmore Vellum Bristol using a black, Micron pen. Red. I recently saw a Zentangle tile that someone in a Facebook group had drawn in red. That was the first time that I‘ve seen a completely red tile. I thought it would be an interesting challenge to try my own. Shading with regular pencil looks a little strange, so I decided to try a red colored pencil. I chose a color that was a bit darker, and I think it worked very well.
