“One Zentangle A Day” by Beckah Krahula, Day 4. For this day, the new tangles are Jonqual, Nipa and Shattuck. The focus is on angular vs circular patterns. As an interesting shading exercise, the circles in Nipa could be shaded as an orb…or a hole! I kept the string very simple, drawing a square at and angle in the center of the tile. I drew the lines within Shattuck and Tipple so that they weren’t perfectly straight or even to add more interest. Because both Shattuck and Nippa are mostly lots of lines, I placed them so that the directions were a contrast to each other.
Project Pack 22 - Day 2 - 5 Spirals The video for this lesson is here . In the second lesson, Molly and Martha show us how to complete a pre-strung, 5xPhive tile. This project uses all the the tools that came in the project pack to decorate 5 spirals arranged in a wreath. I am starting to get the hang of working over the Moonlight ink with graphite and the white chalk pencil. The main conclusion that I’ve come to is to let that ink get good and dry! Since I live in Arizona, where it is hot enough to bake cookies on your dashboard in the summer… letting the ink sit undisturbed over night did the trick. Shading and highlighting was more succesful this time!
Project Pack 7 - Day 3 A beautiful star. The video for this tile is here . I am becoming more comfortable with Zendala tiles! I didn’t have many qualms about tackling this day’s drawing… other than it fell on a day of the week when I have the least amount of free time. But that’s ok. I just finished it the next morning. I am also getting more comfortable working on grey tiles. Right now, here, it is well over 100 degrees every day. The grey and blue combination is very cool and refreshing in comparison!
Ownership. What we give away could be given back, or kept until we are imprisoned by it. She tossed the ties on the floor and walked away. Flutter. To me, the two sections with the Queen‘s Crown in them remind me of butterfly wings. I think of them every time I see it. Zentangle drawn on Official Zentangle tile using a black, Micron pen. Tangles: Bales Chard Echoism Jonqal Pinwheels Queen‘s Crown Vega
Angles. Apparently, I‘m being drawn to angles and straight lines as opposed to curves. It‘s interesting that I tend to fill those angles with softer, rounder patterns fairly often! Simple. I wanted just a simple string for this tile so I could concentrate on the tangles. However, two of the patterns were medallions, but they turned out not to be a problem. I just added one to the central area, and repeated the other three time. It works! Zentangle drawn on Strahtmore Vellum Bristol using a black Micron pen.
