“One Zentangle A Day” by Beckah Krahula - Day 11 - Auras and Rounding

Rounding is done by adding ink in nooks, crannies and angles to smooth them out. You can see this on the tile above by looking where the Hollibaugh lines cross each other. The corners inside the resulting shapes have been rounded with the same dark blue ink used to draw the lines, creating bubble-like shapes inbetween the straight lines.

Auras are created by drawing close to, and following the shape of another line or space. If you look at the tile above, you will see how a white, then a blue line is drawn inside of each bubble inside of the Hollibaugh Lines.

After using both of those techniques, I filled the centers of the bubble with Printemps. I love this tangle for adding texture to a tile without overwhelming the main design.

I added the gold and blue dots to the Hollibaugh to add interest and festive fun. The little dots also help draw the eye across the Hollibaugh so it isn’t overwhelmend by the blue textured areas.

I love the combinations of blue, gold and white on these gray tiles! It is one of my favorite combinations!

Zentangle drawn on a gray standard Zentangle tile using a dark blue and blue Micron pens. White and gold Gelly Roll pens were also used along with a grey blue Staedtler Triplus fineliner. Shading done with graphite pencil. Highlights created with white chalk pencil.
