“One Zentangle A Day” by Beckah Krahula - Day 12

Often there are secondary exercises in the chapters in this book. For Day 12, the secondary exercise is all about using Tangleations to change the value of a given tangle.

In this chapter, the author directs us to practice different versions of Bales, Beelight and Chillon and then to tangle on a “cream colored Artist’s Trading Card” using what we have discovered.

Above, you can see my results. When playing with grid tangles, I like to fill the tile with an even grid. Then I can just concentrate on drawing the various tangles in a few squares that touch another tangle in an adjoining section.

In this case, I also used different colored ink, mixing browns with the black. I thought it might give the card a more antique look.

I think this tile really allows you to see the value of each tangle and it’s variation very well.

Exercises like this don’t take very long. I recommend them for days when you feel too “busy” to concentrate on a larger or more complicated project.
