“One Zentangle A Day” by Beckah Krahula - Day 17 - Organic Patterns Intertwined
The new tangles introduced in this lesson are Courant, Sedgling and Vitruvius.
Organic patterns can be mixed together and play well with each other. As you’re tangling, you can see where tucking a few Pokroot under or beside another tangle would enhance both of them. It’s as if you have a florist’s shop of tangles from which you create a beautiful arrangement!
The secondary lesson for this day is to use water-soluable graphite for shading. What I had at hand was Derwent Graphtint pencils. These have water-soluable color added to the graphite.
I’ve used watercolor a fair amount. While it’s not my first choice of medium to work with, I am used to using it. But I am certainly not comfortable with these pencils. The graphite can’t be blended out like regular pencil. And I didn’t want the color to move everywhere, so I was very hesitant with the application. In all honesty, I don’t think I would use them for this purpose again.
I do like the tangle arrangment. I feel like I’m looking into a domed terrarium containing exotic plants!
