Inktober Tangles - Day 06 - Auravox by Stephanie Jennifer CZT

I am breaking from creating monotangles for Inktober with this tile. Instead of drawing a single tangle in vairous styles, this tile is what is called a “ZIA” or “Zentangle Inspired Art”.

There is a single AuraVox in the lower, right-hand corner. But that made me think of Forest Core, which lead me to the Mushroom house. Then I used two tangles, Poke leave and Locar to represent plants found on the shady forest floor.

Eventually, I will pull this tile back out and add color and perhaps a fall leaf in the background.

This tangle made me wonder about adding various other animals to a tile or Zia. Below, you can see my scrap paper where I experimented with an entire zoo of options!

If you are interested in simple, step-by-step instructions for drawing your own animals, I recommend the book "Illustration School Let's Draw Cute Animals" by Sachiko Umoto. She actually has a whole series of fun books for simple drawing in a fun, illustrative style!

Another source of fun, small, step-by-step drawings are the drawing books of Ed Embry . These are my favorite books for keeping younger kids entertained in a restraunt or waiting for a doctor’s appointment. All you need is a pen an a small pad of paper to create an entire world!
