Inktober Tangles - Day 28 - Quandry by Zentangle
Quandry is a tangle that has been around for a long time. It uses small rice shapes arranged in adjacent triangles to make up larger, hexigonal shapes.
This tangle looks deciptively simple, but it actually works well for meditation because of the concentration required to keep things lined up! But don’t worry, if it gets wonky, it’s charming!
I kept my design very simple. I didn’t fill the tile completely, but I used an irregular shape to keep it interesting.
I also added a light blue color to each rice shape using a Zebra Midliner. I didn’t want to use chalk because the shapes are so small I was afraid the color wouldn’t stay where I wanted it.
After I shaded around the outside of the main shape, I added white chalk highlights to the center of every triangle. I like how the “light” lifted the entire tagled are so that it looks like it is hovering above the tile.
I use this tangle whenever it comes up in a random draw as a fill. It is somewhat geometric, but it works well with many other tangles, creating a bit lighter area for contrast!
