Inktober Tangles - Day 31 - Idoz by Zentangle

Idoz is a botanical, leaf or blossom shaped tangle. It is unique in that the center is a grouping of overlapped petal shapes, instead of having a clear, defined center point.

The “petals” can be plain or decorated. I’ve often seen it as if they were actually seed pods, with an opening in the center showing the orbs of the seeds.

I’ve also seen this tangle where there are more or less than four petals per blossom shape, and even where there are petals independent of blossoms.

I chose to create my tile with iterations of this tangle getting smaller and smaller. I didn’t reduce the size in a progression, but rather put them in the next largest blank space. This resulted in the various sizes landing wherever they fit.

Well, this is the final day of Inktober! I’ve enjoyed doing this project this year. I have added twenty new tangles to my repertoire. I think learning new tangles was the biggest benefit of my participation! There was only one tangle that I didn’t like and didn’t add.

I also liked the challenge of making each tile a monotangle. I think there were a few where I added a few other tangles, and I did turn one tangle into the string on the tile and used many tangles to fill it in. But I did try to stick to the Monotangle idea as much as I could!

I don’t know if I will do this again next year. It is too far away to know what will happen then at this point.

But I will certainly continue tangling and posting art work every day I can!
