This is a simple, warm-up/morning meditation tile.
When I am feeling uncreative, or it’s been a while since I’ve been tangling, I elect to do something rather simple where I can concentrate on simple strokes and enter that repetitive, drawing, zen state of mind.
Here, I created the Mooka shapes first. I didn’t have any kind of plan, I just wanted to draw big, curvy shapes. Next I chose a random grid fill tangle, which was Cadent, in this case. It turned out to be more challenging than I planned on, but that’s OK.
After the background was filled in, I chose to color in the Mooka shapes to produce a strong contrast. I also chose to make the corners of the Cadent gold.
I let this tile dry over night before doing anything else. I’ve learned, over the years, that it works better to let all the ink dry thoroughly before adding shading and highlights!
While this tile isn’t fancy, I still like it and it served it’s purpose. Keep in mind that your tiles don’t have to be perfect. They don’t have to be complex or fancy. It’s OK to just tangle without an end goal. Just relax and draw!
Zentangle drawn on a white, standard Zentangle tile using a black, Micron pen. Gold Sakura Gelly Roll was used for the gold dots. Shading done with graphite pencil. Highlights created with white chalk pencil.
